The other night the boo and i watched
Breakfast at Tiffanys
we were both so excited because it is deemed a classic
it resulted with the boo falling asleep
and i was perplexed
(the fashion is what kept me awake)
i appreciate older films
i just did not understand why this was so great
so i set out to do some research googling
and i feel so ashamed that i didn't know it was a book
and this truly is one of those movies
where the movie leaves out some major themes of the book
There are themes of
-stability and freedom
-nature vs culture
- diversity of love
- and apparently massive amounts of symbolism
so now Breakfast at Tiffanys is on the book list
I am really interested in watching more classic movies
plus the boo and i are having a shut in weekend
filled with movies and ordering pizza
Movie Suggestions?
Funny, I just ordered the book 1001 Movies to See Before You Die. I feel like there are a lot of great old ones I haven't seen either.
ReplyDeleteOlder movies I love: Casablanca and Gone With the Wind. And for something less commercial, The Collector (the 1965 version). So creepy.

Thanks for the suggestions! WIthout knowing it you just gave me the best stocking stuffer idea with that book, thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with PP&P on Casablanca and GWTW, but It Happened One Night is also REALLY good, also starring Clark Gable. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is SOO amazing, as is Some Like It Hot - both with Marilyn Monroe and once you see her you realize why she is so popular! I also like really bizarre old movies based on books, too: Rebecca is very true to the book, as is Madame Bovary (1949). I'd love to hear what you think of these!
